The Zurich public transport service (VBZ) planned the replacement of its tracks on the Quay Bridge in 2015 as well as the conversion of the Bellevue stop. The civil engineering office took this opportunity to repair the entire Quay Bridge, the hollow space on the Bellevue side as well as parts of the road surface on the Bürkliplatz side. By replacing the seal and road surface, the Quay Bridge should enjoy optimum protection for the next 25 years.
By reinforcing the cavity ceiling on the Bellevue side, the load-bearing capacity in accordance with standards was to be restored. The VBZ tram tracks had reached the end of their service life and had to be replaced. More space was made for wider cycle paths by relocating the VBZ / EWZ pylons on the edge of the bridge.
