Oerlikon Train Station

Project Description

The infrastructure department of SBB decided that the Oerlikon train station was too cramped and outdated, an opinion that was shared by the approximately 100,000 commuters and travellers per day. Now they no longer have to squeeze through the gateways to the platform. The highly frequented area places great demands on the paving, and is the ideal field of use for our wear-resistant DURATEX® hardened concrete flooring.

The much-debated connection of the modern Neu-Oerlikon district to the heart of the old quarter was of great importance for the Zurich city council. The pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths were optically separated by a light and a dark micro-hardened concrete of the type DURATEX® ZMZ-5.

Special Features of the Project

To prevent slipping and for aesthetic reasons, the passage to the quarter was given a “vintage structure”. This vintage-look paving was also installed on both access ramps in the covered outdoor area.
