who we are

Tradition is good. So is innovation.

WALO, a family business rich in tradition and led by the fifth generation, has grown from a local road building company founded 1917 in Switzerland, to a general contractor in the construction industry with 2,600 employees and projects worldwide. WALO is a specialist in the field of hydraulic asphalt engineering, dam-cores, reservoirs, pumped storage and equalizing reservoirs, artificial lakes, irrigation systems, canals, river banks, landfill sites, coastal protection and flood alleviation schemes.

With our broad service portfolio and state-of-the-art machinery, we offer optimal solutions for complex challenges in almost all areas of the construction process – from the initial feasibility study to manufacturing and commissioning.

We know very well what we can do and what we stand for. That is why we look to the future with pragmatic optimism and are convinced that our company will continue to be economically successful in the long term. The most important prerequisites for this are customer loyalty, experience, solidarity, tradition, innovation, courage, a willingness to take risks and our competent and experienced employees.

our values

Living our values is what makes us successful.

Customer loyalty
Good buildings and thereby satisfied customers are our main objective. This requires precise construction work from A to Z. The basis for this is: Quality, competence, reliability and highly motivated employees.
Experience
The transfer of know-how over generations, the sensitivity for the environment, the sense for technical developments and entrepreneurial achievements have sharpened the view for the future construction industry at home and abroad at WALO over decades.
Connectedness
Our approximately 2,600 employees and those who have worked in this company before them have contributed to the history of WALO – often coming from the same families, and often over many generations. They think and act according to the principle: "Building the future instead of waiting for it, with both feet on the ground and their eyes looking up to the stars".
Stability and tradition
A company that is led by the same family in the fifth generation may seem to many today to be an entrepreneurial discontinued model. We see it completely differently. Whether employer or contractor – WALO has strived for generations to be straightforward, constant and predictable.
Innovation, courage and willingness to take risks
The world's markets and construction markets are constantly changing, sometimes accompanied by crises. In this sector, opportunities and risks are closely linked. In order to prevail in a world of intensive competition and technological change, it is necessary to combine experience and innovation to constantly gain competence and competitive advantages. In this environment, WALO will always be successful, as we tackle these challenges in a direct, dynamic and flexible manner.

quality management

Risk, safety, quality and environmental protection.

Quality management
The quality management (RSQU) is based on the WALO mission statement. The RSQU policy is demonstrated by the aspects of occupational safety and environmental protection, customer satisfaction and economic efficiency and is reflected in the following hierarchically listed working principles:
1. Occupational safety and environmental protection
Occupational safety and environmental protection are of highest priority for all WALO products and services. In addition to legal regulations, which are always taken into account, WALO has committed itself to further requirements. For the purpose of preventing occupational accidents, illnesses and environmental pollution, training is provided and internal instructions are issued and enforced. The continuous improvement of performance in the area of occupational safety and environmental protection is strived for.
2. Customer satisfaction
Customer satisfaction is understood as the correspondence between order execution and customer requirements. The continuous improvement of products and services are aimed at achieving optimal quality and meeting customer needs.
3. Efficiency
All activities are committed to the principle of efficiency. To this end, work processes must be optimally prepared and implemented.
