Concrete Rehabilitation and Hydrodynamics

Create and Preserve.

Concrete Rehabilitation and Hydrodynamics
WALO’s range of services includes the full and partial rehabilitation of concrete structures in building construction, civil engineering and sewer construction. Thanks to the use of hydrodynamics, we reach the goal faster.

Concrete Rehabilitation

WALO’s range of services includes the full and partial rehabilitation of concrete structures in building construction, civil engineering and sewer construction.

The objective of such measures is to give the structures long-term protection to ensure they preserve their value. WALO has specially-trained, well-versed teams with years of experience working in this field. Complex rehabilitation projects also require a large stock of machinery and the application of modern techniques, such as concrete stripping using the ultra-high water pressure method. They also require the perfect combination of the newest construction materials and tried-and-tested conventional materials that have proven their worth over many years. This is what makes the rehabilitation of roads and rail bridges one of WALO’s specialities, no matter what the scale of the project. We offer the full package, including guarantee.

Hydrodynamics

WALO has been successfully applying hydrodynamics in the field of construction for more than 20 years.

All tasks related to “hydrodynamic removal” involve the use of ultra-high water pressure systems and the removal robots that come with them: cleaning of components, roughening, removal or stripping of concrete surfaces.

  • For the repair of all types of infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels or sewage treatment plants.
  • For the customisation of newly-built concrete-surface structures.
  • For the cleaning of industrial facilities or incinerators.

The uniqueness of this method is best demonstrated in the repair of building structures when the existing reinforcement can be uncovered without vibrations or structure-borne noise (which is normal with conventional systems) and without it incurring even the slightest bit of damage.

A removal robot is one of the best pieces of equipment for delivering success in this highly-demanding field of work. A crucial role is played by our experienced and highly-skilled machine operators and mechanics, who have built up their expertise over many years working on numerous projects.

Ultra-High Performance Concrete

Ultra-high performance fibre reinforced concrete (UHPC) has compressive strength in excess of 150 N/mm2. This allows for the production of very filigree, light and resource-friendly components.

Since 2014, WALO has had a UHPC paver from its own in-house development and production and has used it to incorporate UHPC as a static reinforcement into the world’s first bridge surface of more than 50,000 m2. The combination of highly qualified employees, the tailor-made mixing plant of Walo Bertschinger AG and outstanding material technology allows for more sustainable construction projects. Thanks to the expertise it has in the area of UHPC, projects can be implemented within a short period of time and with a high level of quality – both in Switzerland and abroad.
