New Construction of a Two-Family House, Zelglistrasse, Zurich

he new construction project of a two-family house at Zelglistrasse 30 is located between Zurich-Oerlikon and Zurich-Affoltern. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood characterized by its traffic-calmed location, the connection to public transportation remains excellent.

Project Description

In a very short time, a modern solid construction was completed, featuring an exposed concrete staircase and a striking monoblock facade. The building's overall design harmonizes seamlessly with the existing residential environment, giving the neighborhood a fresh, contemporary character. Thanks to the outstanding collaboration of all parties involved, a high-quality, defect-free building was realized, which is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Special Features

A particular highlight of the project is the facade masonry, constructed using innovative lightweight bricks, Bricosol Primo+ (U-value 0.13 W/m²K). These massive large-format blocks, 49 cm thick, were bonded with lightweight mortar, creating a unique and comfortable living atmosphere. A significant advantage of this construction method is that no additional facade insulation is required, enhancing material quality and energy efficiency.

The successful implementation, however, required highly precise work preparation (AVOR) with many carefully thought-out details that were executed and resolved to perfection. This project serves as a prime example of modern construction artistry and innovative materials that provide the highest level of living comfort.
