Repair Quaibrücke

In 2015, the Zurich Transport Authority planned to replace its tracks on the Quai Bridge. The opportunity was taken to repair the entire Quaibrücke and thus be optimally prepared for the next 25 years.

Project description

In 2015, the Zurich Transport Authority (VBZ) planned to replace its tracks on the Quaibrücke bridge and to reconstruct the Bellevue stop. The Civil Engineering Office took this opportunity to repair the entire Quaibrücke bridge, the cavity on the Bellevue side and parts of the road surface on the Bürkliplatz side. By replacing the waterproofing and surfacing, the Quaibrücke should once again be optimally protected for the next 25 years.

With the reinforcement of the cavity slab on the Bellevue side, the standard-compliant load-bearing capacity is to be met again. The VBZ streetcar tracks are at the end of their useful life and had to be replaced. By moving the VBZ / EWZ candelabra to the edge of the bridge, more space was created for wider bike lanes.
