As part of the "TransGoldenPass" project of the Montreux-Berner Oberland-Bahnen (MOB), a transfer-free connection between Montreux and Spiez is to be created at the Zweisimmen station by constructing a gauge change facility. The expansion of the station facilities in Zweisimmen required for this also necessitates, among other things, a widening of the southern station access via Lenkstrasse due to the additional standard gauge connection of the MOB-Perrons. For this purpose, the east side of the two existing railroad bridges over Lenkstrasse as well as the existing retaining walls "Gemse" and "Technikräume" have to be replaced.
A major challenge of this construction site was the logistics. Due to the tight space conditions, the only access in the area of the "Gemse" retaining wall was via the existing east bridge. The logistics were therefore carried out via the track that was shut down during the construction phase. After completion of the «Gemse» retaining wall work, the abutment widening and dismantling of the east bridge could be started. At the same time, the «retaining wall technical rooms» with integrated technical room was constructed.
